The Institute of Chemistry of the CNRS has launched the "Ambassadors" program, a unique program that allows its unit directors to invite prestigious scientists based abroad for a lecture tour in CNRS laboratories.
In this context, the LIMA was really happy to welcome
Prof. Eric N. Jacobsen (Havard University - USA)
who is world-renowned for the development and advanced mechanistic studies of novel catalytic reactions. This work has led Prof. Jacobsen's team to the development of several catalysts, many of which have found wide application in both industry and academia. These include metal-salen complexes for asymmetric epoxidation, conjugate additions and hydrolytic kinetic resolution of epoxides; Schiff chromium-base complexes for a wide range of enantioselective pericyclic reactions; and organic hydrogen bond donor catalysts for the activation of neutral and cationic electrophiles.
To celebrate the first lecture of Prof. Jacobsen "tour de France", a symposium highlighting the chemistry from Strasbourg has been organized the 21st of February 2023 in Strasbourg.
